Pride Proclamation, Presentation on Censorship in the Form of Book Bans by GMS Students, and More at the 5/28 Council Meeting

Updated: May 22

The next Council Meeting on Tuesday, May 28th at 7pm will include several important topics and presentations.

To start, for the first time in West Windsor Township history (or should I say herstory?) the Council will present a Proclamation that recognizes the month of June 2024 as Pride Month!

Please join me for this momentous occasion!

Following the Proclamation, Next Chapter, an award winning sixth grade Community Problem Solving team at Grover Middle School will present about censorship in the form of book bans.

This team placed first at the New Jersey Future Problem Solving State Bowl and received an invitation to the FPS International Conference in Indiana in June!

I had the pleasure of meeting these future leaders at the Farmers Market one weekend and I was beyond impressed by their knowledge and passion on this topic.

Your attendance for this discussion will be deeply meaningful for these amazing students and their parents who are doing an incredible job in educating our community about this issue.

The May 28th Council meeting will also include a presentation and discussion of a draft ordinance for modifications to the Township code pertaining to stormwater control, as required to reflect the provisions of the State’s adoption of the Inland Flood Rules at N.J.A.C. 7:8 in July 2023.  The presentation will be led Francis Guzik, Director Community Development/Township Engineer.

The official agenda and supporting documentation will be posted on the township website prior to the meeting.
