Are you curious about how elections can be more fair, representative, and engaging? Check out this informational session and discussion on Ranked Choice Voting (RCV) and how it could improve elections in New Jersey!
📅 Date: Wednesday, March 19th
🕡 Time: 6:30 – 8:00 PM
📍 Location: West Windsor Branch, Mercer County Public Library
If you plan to attend, please RSVP HERE.
Joining in a discussion panel will be Mercer County Executive Dan Benson, Senator Linda Greenstein, and Senator Andrew Zwicker!
As an Assembly member, Dan Benson sponsored the companion legislation to Sen. Zwicker's "Municipal & School Board Voting Options Act." This bill would make ranked-choice voting (aka, instant run-off elections) legal in New Jersey for communities that choose this option.
We also anticipate the attendance of Assemblywoman Verlina Reynolds Jackson, Assemblywoman Tennille McCoy, and representatives from the offices of Assemblyman Wayne DeAngelo and Assemblyman Anthony Verrelli.

Ranked Choice Voting is a simple yet powerful reform that gives voters more choice and a stronger voice in elections. Instead of picking just one candidate, voters rank their choices in order of preference. If no candidate wins a majority outright, the candidate with the fewest votes is eliminated, and those votes are redistributed to the next choice on each ballot. This process continues until a candidate wins with majority support.
Why Does RCV Matter?
✅ Expands voter choice – More candidates can run without fear of “splitting the vote.”
✅ Eliminates the “spoiler effect” – No more worrying that voting for your favorite candidate could help elect the one you like least.
✅ Encourages more positive campaigns – Candidates focus on earning broad support instead of attacking opponents.
✅ Ensures majority support – The winner is someone who reflects the preferences of the most voters.
New Jersey is exploring ways to improve its elections, and RCV could be a game-changer for our democracy. Come learn from experts, ask questions, and discuss how this reform could impact our local and state elections.
This event is free and open to the public.
