Creating Safe Spaces: The Role of HiTOPS in Our Community

HiTOPS, based in Princeton, NJ, is a vital organization empowering young people through inclusive, affirming sexual health-related education, training and professional development, and support services and safe spaces for LGBTQ+ youth and their families.  At a time when LGBTQ+ rights are under attack and youth face heightened levels of discrimination, mental health struggles, and decreased access to essential  health care, HiTOPS’ services are more vital than ever. Their programs equip queer youth with the confidence to embrace their identities while fostering community and connection. For LGBTQ+ teens, who are disproportionately at risk of depression and suicide, these services can be life-saving.

The rise in anti-LGBTQ+ rhetoric and legislation across the country underscores the importance of organizations like HiTOPS. By offering acceptance and guidance, they not only help individuals but also strengthen the broader community. Together, we can build a more inclusive and compassionate future.
